The position will be located in Västerås, Sweden, and the holder of the role will report to the Head of Drives Mechanical Engineering.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE
Breaking down product requirements into technical and mechanical constraints that are taken further as inputs to analytical or CAE calculations as well as mechanical design guidance. Achieving the best mechanical design as per product requirements by analysing and/or liaising multi-disciplinary engineering related inputs like: material, machine dynamics, acoustic, kinematics, bearing technology, thermodynamics, mechanical design and structural mechanics.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES & CHALLENGES
? Support the engineering team to develop and design Motors & Gearboxes for High speed trains, Regional trains and Metros by undergoing various engineering related tasks as:

Machine dynamics and acoustics related
? rotor dynamics and axle critical speed calculations
? analysis of imbalance forces
? definition of dynamic forces
? rigid body dynamic analysis
? definition of noise budget Motor/Gearbox
Mechanical structure related
? analytical strength calculations
? bolt and weld joints calculations
? fracture mechanics calculations
? destructive and non-destructive test method definition
Bearing technology related
? bearing life calculations
? roller contact fatigue analysis
? tribology analysis
Others (but not limited to):
? design reviews & product development activities
? wheel axle and coupling movements analysis
? material properties definition
? heat and temperature gradient problem solving

YOUR EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
? We welcome candidates with at least 5 years of previous experience in the field of structural strength analysis, structural dynamics or analytical mechanical engineering;
? Previous experience with product development within railway, aerospace and/or auto-motive industry is highly desirable;
? Very good analytics, excellent orientation and understanding of complex technical issues and good ability to transpose product requirements into technical concepts are essential;
? Good communication and team player skills are needed as the holder will have to interact and agree on technical issues with internal and external stakeholders;
? Fluency in English is mandatory; Swedish and/or German will be a plus;
?Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is the minimum requirement; continued post graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering are a plus.
