Information about the research/the project/the department
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is the largest Department at Chalmers with approximately 310 employees. The research covers a wide range of topics, often involving sustainability and a better environment.

At the Division of Energy and Materials we have diverse research activities, focusing on different aspects of material and energy related questions. The division includes Environmental Inorganic Chemistry, working with applications of high temperature corrosion with research applied to fuel cells, biomass, and waste fired boilers. We also perform research in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Oxide Chemistry, and Theoretical Chemistry involving advanced modeling. The Industrial Materials Recycling group focuses mainly on the recycling of metals including Rare Earth Metals (REM) from different secondary sources, including ashes, with different methods.

The Nuclear Chemistry group focuses on research for applications in the nuclear industry: novel nuclear fuels, research relating to accidents, final repositories, and the reuse of used nuclear fuel through partitioning and transmutation. Also included is research related to radiopharmaceutical applications and radioecology.

Major responsibilities
As an Associate Professor your main responsibility is to conduct your own research in the field of Nuclear Chemistry. Research projects are expected to include doctorial students to whom you will act as principal supervisor. You will actively seek funding for your research projects, on your own, as well as with your colleagues, to benefit and strengthen the field of Nuclear Chemistry. You will teach and participate in improvement of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. You will also participate in both internal and external committee work.
Participation in the international professional community to exchange knowledge and disseminate our research at Chalmers Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Position summary
Full time permanent employment as an Associate Professor of Nuclear Chemistry. For non-Swedish speaking applicants, we expect that Swedish studies are commenced immediately to fulfill the mandatory goal of being able to teach at undergraduate level in Swedish after two years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Qualifications
To qualify as an Associate Professor in Nuclear Chemistry, you must hold a PhD in Nuclear Chemistry or similar field, with additional research merits from academia and/or industry. A comprehensive knowledge of the field of Nuclear Chemistry is essential, along with a good track-record of attracting research funding and leading independent research.
You need to have a sound knowledge of the English language, both verbally and in written form, to facilitate networking on national and international level, as well as publishing and disseminating research work. Documented pedagogic experience and very good teaching abilities are also required from the applicant. You should have excellent collaboration skills and a keen interest in different applications of the subject.
We are looking for a team-player, who sincerely enjoys teaching and supervising. We also think that you should be equipped with a strong individual motor and have a passion for science and research.

The position of associate professor requires scientific expertise that is considerably higher than that required for a doctoral degree (corresponding to admission as docent) and at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or corresponding expertise. You must be accustomed to teaching and be a skilled educator. For this reason, we place a great deal of emphasis on your pedagogical portfolio. Experience from performing academic research or qualified research and development in industry/the public sector is a requirement
