Development Engineer - DTH

Rock Tools, a part of the business area Sandvik Mining, works to continually develop new rock drilling tools and cemented carbide grades designed to improve our customers' operations and deliver superior, cost-effective performance. We are now looking for a Development Engineer for down-the-hole (DTH) bench drilling, to fill a temporary position from 1 January to 31 December, 2016.

Job Summary
As a Development Engineer you develop and design new products for DTH tools. You document and compile reports as needed, as you proceed with your new designs. You work together with your team of Development Engineers and a Field Technician. You have close cooperation with the product owner for DTH products and other stakeholders, such as the R&D function and other product areas within Rock Tools.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master of Science in a field such as Machining, Materials Science or Design, who has experience from CAD and construction, preferably with some years in product development. You also have knowledge of basic solid mechanics and materials science, and knowledge of FEM (Finite Element Method) is advantageous. You have skills in NX, or similar CAD-programs, and MS Office, and previous experience with Teamcenter as a PLM system is a plus. Skills in English, in both writing and speaking, are a prerequisite in this position, while skills in Swedish are considered an advantage.
