We are now looking for an independent Functional Safety Assessor. You will report to the Director Global Management Tools & Systems, and assess the system safety of designs developed within Research & Development. In this role you will be responsible for assessing the functional system safety of a design by reviewing the safety related design documentation and verifying that ISO 26262 requirements are fulfilled by the project. This is a relatively new function within Corporate Quality and you will have the possibility to influence and develop the role. You will build and develop a wide network both internally and externally, to safeguard that Volvo Cars has sufficient competence within Functional Safety.

Main responsibilities

* To conduct Functional Safety Assessment according to ISO 26262 (i.e. assess achieved level of functional safety for a system/function)
* To conduct the confirmation measures required for the Functional Safety Assessment
* Together with System Safety team and external contacts, improve the knowledge and understanding around ISO 26262 within Volvo Cars
* Functional Safety Assessment plan
* Functional Safety Assessments and reporting of results
* Confirmation measure reports, especially a functional safety assessment report (recommending acceptance, conditional acceptance or rejection of the achieved functional safety)

Required qualifications

* Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Automation control or similar competence through other education and /or professional experience
* At least five years of experience from development of electronic systems, preferable with a combination of functional-, system-, hardware and software development for embedded systems
* At least three years of experience from functional safety engineering in Automotive
* In depth knowledge of ISO 26262 and its application
* Experience from working with assessment methodology
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
