Manager System Engineering and Bid support

What you will be a part of
Avionics Systems develops and manufactures qualified electronics, mechanics and software for demanding applications in aircraft and helicopters. Many of these products are developed in collaboration with other parts of Saab or external partners. Most of our projects are carried out in an international environment and we supply products for two of the world’s largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing. 
Product area Mission Avionics develops, produces, maintains and supports the products over the complete life cycle. Our customer offer is improved Situational Awareness through products such as:
- Mission Equipment (AviComp)
- Head Up Displays and (AviGuide)
- Communication Management products (AviCom)
Customers include international aircraft manufacturers and their tier 1 suppliers and partners. 
The product area staff are mainly project/product managers and systems engineers.



Your role
As manager for Systems engineering and Bid Support, your main task will be to coach and manage the system engineers within the product area. You will also support growing our Product Area business by being involved in bid activities and as part of the Product Area management team. 
You will have full responsibility for the cost center budget and all other results within your department, such as delivery precision and effectiveness. By communication and interaction with other parts of the organization you will contribute to ensure overall resource balancing. Competence management and other typical line manager tasks are also included in your responsibilities.
You will be involved in our Winning Business process where the engineers within the department support our bid activities by providing data and information for quotations and marketing activities. You will lead cost estimations and efforts to increase overall cost efficiency in both bid and execution phase of our projects. 
You will report to Head of Prodcut Area Misison Avionics and be part of the Product area management team.

Your skills and experience
Appropriate professional or postgraduate qualification in a business oriented or technical discipline.
Experience of Safety Critical Avionics development or similar is important.
Strong business understanding and customer focus.
Understanding and ability to work in an international environment and matrix organisation.
Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions.
Ability and interest in leading, developing and challenging the organization, management teams and employees.
Strong drive, perseverance and ability to generate energy
