Packaging Development Engineer: plastic bags and materials

Overview
Develops plastic bag packaging solutions and acts as internal technical consultant on plastic bag related issues for our Incontinence-TENA brand and baby diaper product range. This Packaging Development Engineer position reports to the Global Packaging Director in R&D Personal Care, part of SCA Global Hygiene Category. The position will be located in Gothenburg, and up to 40% travel is estimated.



Main Tasks
• work as an innovation team project member responsible to translate stakeholders requirements into a plastic bag packaging solution, including package and packaging material design, development plan and test verification plan to prove the achievement of project targets • deliver specifications for both pack innovations and re-design of packaging to support new product changes and line extensions •provide technical input and recommendations on all plastic bag packaging and materials •identify and develop relevant innovative packaging concepts including plastic materials, packaging format, printing technology and brand assurance devices with potential business benefits

Key Competencies
•minimum B.S. Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science •3-5 years experience in technical packaging development of plastic bag, materials and manufacturing processes in FMCG or other related industries •exposure to manufacturing environments and packaging machinery relative to line trials, plastic bag and materials packaging process and package integrity issues • project management experience a must. Six Sigma/DFSS training a plus •holistic thinking i.e. takes a broad stakeholder perspective and has the ability to understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations and business opportunities •good networking, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence people across different disciplines, cultures and positions •customer & consumer driven •knowledge of reading and utilizing CAD technologies (AutoCAD or ArtiosCAD) •proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required •basic knowledge of SAP preferred •excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
