Role Summary/Purpose:

To meet the increasing demand of tasks in the microbial cultivation area we are seeking a Research Engineer to the Applications and Processes section, Upstream & Consumables department.

The group is responsible for developing products and processes for the upstream bioprocess area. The position is focused on microbial culture processes and applications from seed train to manufacturing scale in bioreactors.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for development, improvement and transfer of upstream bioprocess applications and bio-molecule manufacturing.
Responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of experiments to support R&D objectives.
The work is performed within the scope of different projects with research, development and/or market support focus. The role will include a large degree of interactions between team members from other functions with different responsibilities.
Experiments and investigations will primarily be performed in a bioprocessing laboratory using cell culture based methods.
Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.

Qualifications/Requirements:

University degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
Solid experience from microbial cell culture methods and processes.
Experience from standard analytical packaged for assessing cell culture performance/health.
Understanding of bioprocess upstream cell culture methods, processes and industry trends.
Ability to work and act cross-functionally in the organization and ability to be flexibility between different types of tasks.
Swedish and English as a working language.
Structured and organized team player.
Strong communication skills.
Self-propelled, goal-oriented and driven to learn new things.
Team player with the ability to work both independently and with others.
EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:

Experience in microbial cultivations in both small and larger scale bioreactors
Experience from harvest using hollow fibers or ultra/micro filters
Experience from work with mammalian cell cultures in bioreactor platforms
Experience from research collaborations
